Well, my kids were more excited this morning than Christmas morning I think.
When we woke up and saw all the rain and ice out there, we thought we'd better listen to Brantford's FM radio station 92.1. They provide updates on all the school and local event closures and cancellations. They patiently waited for each song and commercial to end until they finally came to the announcements. Yeah! Schools are closed!
The euphoria lasted only as long as the power stayed on. We had a power outage in our neighbourhood this morning for quite awhile. It came back on, only to go out again. What kind of day off would it be without tv, video games, internet, hot food...? Thankfully, the power was restored, as well as their excitement.
I'm secretly thrilled about this unexpected day home with the kids because it gives me an excuse to stay in my pjs a little longer and hang out. I had a crazy weekend and being "trapped" at home on a Monday sounds pretty darn good to me.
